News of the death of Osama Bin Laden has rocked the nation this week and if ever there was a time to wear proudly red, white and blue, that time is now. Special reports flooded the airwaves Sunday evening as the news of the death of one of the most sought after terrorists of our time, Osama Bin Laden, made it’s way to the headlines. It was reported that a US navy team conducted a mission, approved by the president, which resulted in the capture and death of Osama Bin Laden. A gun shot wound to the head ended his life and his journey to terrorize America and all that live within.
President Barack Obama addressed the nation shortly after it has been confirmed with DNA that is was in fact Osama Bin Laden that was killed in the mission. Before the president could complete his speech, thousands of Americans stood along the gates of the White House celebrating and chanting “USA” and singing the “National Anthem”. Ground Zero was another popular site for Americans to celebrate in a victory that has been long in the coming. For many, this is a bitter sweet time, remembering a loved one that was lost in the 9/11 attacks. There is a chance that some will never find closure and will always remember the scars that this tragedy left on our country, but others will consider it” mission completed.”
Although former president George W. Bush and our current President of the United States Barack Obama both had something to do with the capture of Osama Bin Laden, it is the men and women who serve to protect our country that are the ones to thank for bringing a sense of peace and most importantly, a sense of freedom to all of America.
